Heup Young Kim, professor of systematic theology at Kangnam University in South Korea, discusses 鈥淎 Trialogue of Humility: A New Way of Christian Mission in Asia鈥 in a free public lecture Monday, Oct. 19, at 5 p.m. in 蜜桃传媒鈥檚 Hieronymus Lounge.

Kim, who has published several books about interfaith dialogue and theology of religions, will discuss the encounter between Christianity, Asian religions and science.

Kim earned his master鈥檚 of divinity and master鈥檚 of theology degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary and a doctorate from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, Calif. He is a former dean of the College of Humanities and Liberal arts, the Graduate School of Theology, and the University Chapel.

Kim has been a senior fellow at the Center for the Study of World Religions at Harvard University and at the Center for Interdisciplinary Study of Monotheistic Religions at Doshisha University. He has received numerous honors and awards, including the Global Perspectives on Science and Spirituality and a John Templeton Foundation Research grant.

One of his most popular books, 鈥淲ang Yang-ming and Karl Barth: A Confucian-Christian Dialogue,鈥 Kim argues that the religious philosophies of Yang-ming and Barth are actually similar views of a common issue.

The lecture is sponsored by the 蜜桃传媒 Religious Studies Department.
