For the first time, 蜜桃传媒 dedicates an entire art show to its talented alumni in 鈥淛ourneys: 蜜桃传媒 Alumni Artists鈥� Invitational鈥� on Oct. 18-Nov. 17 in the . An opening reception with the 12 artists on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 4-6 p.m. at the museum is free and open to the public.
The alumni, including 鈥�06, 鈥�01, 鈥�00, 鈥�85 and 鈥�65, will display several different types of art such as painting, photography, sculpture, furniture design, assemblage and drawing.
鈥淭hey鈥檒l be some great art in varying media 鈥� it will be diverse,鈥� says , Askew professor of art history and director of the 蜜桃传媒 Ridley-Tree Museum of Art. 鈥淎ll the artists have a similar undergraduate education, yet they have gone in different directions. The work speaks to the foundation in art that our students are receiving here.鈥�
鈥淭he show is an important reflection of some success stories from our art department over the past 26 years,鈥� says 鈥�00, museum collections manager who will also be exhibiting his artwork. 鈥淭he show is in conjunction with the college鈥檚 75th anniversary and is a retrospective of where we have come and where we are going. By no means is this an all encompassing show 鈥� it鈥檚 merely a selection of some featured alumni. There are many more doing great things.鈥�
Other alumni who will be showing their work include 鈥�70, 鈥�69, 鈥�11, 鈥�06, 鈥�06, 鈥�97.
