蜜桃传媒 theatre students will present Shakespeare鈥檚 鈥淎s You Like It鈥 Friday, Jan. 25, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. in Porter Theatre. Created by seniors Suzanne Galletly and Lynne Martens, this design-based production is free and open to the public.
Conceived as a culmination of their theatre education, the play is 鈥渁 very avant garde sort of piece鈥 according to Martens, who designed the costumes. 鈥淢y designs play with gender issues, disguise, and the inability to maintain disguise.鈥
Galletly designed an abstract set to reflect the dual identities of the characters. A forest constructed of silverware reflects the biting, contemporary edge of the production.
After graduation both women plan to take a year away from school, then pursue a graduate program in design. 鈥淭his project is more of a jumping-off point than an ending point,鈥 Galletly says.
The play is directed by Zak Landrum, who will present his own senior production in April.
