Forbes has selected ���Ҵ�ý as the second-best college for minorities to earn a degree in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (known colloquially as STEM).

Jessie van Eerden, a faculty member at the Oregon Extension of Eastern University, reads her prose fiction on Thursday, Jan. 20, in Adams Center 216 at 7 p.m. The reading is free and open to the public.

Allen Hopkins, sportscaster for ESPN and FOX Sports, joins the ���Ҵ�ý Board of Trustees, which oversees the operations of the college. Hopkins, a 1995 ���Ҵ�ý graduate, has been a member of ���Ҵ�ý’s Board of Advisors since 2007.

(���Ҵ�ý has been forced to cancel this month’s viewing of the stars due to inclement weather. The next scheduled public viewing is Friday, Dec. 17.)

“Form and Function: Ceramic Artists in California” opens in the ���Ҵ�ý Museum of Art with a public reception Thursday, November 18, 4-6 p.m. The exhibition, on display through Dec. 18, is the second in the new Adams Center for the Visual Arts.

���Ҵ�ý student composers, vocalists and instrumentalists showcase their talents in several concerts this November. All performances are free and open to the public.

William “Bill” Kerr, a longtime college trustee and the son of ���Ҵ�ý founder Ruth Kerr, died Nov. 5. He was 95. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 12:30 p.m. in the Church of the Hills at Forest Lawn in Hollywood Hills.

Tim Keith, a private equity investor based in New York and a partner in two green businesses, has joined the ���Ҵ�ý Board of Trustees. He has served on ���Ҵ�ý’s Board of Advisors since 2005, and he earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and business at ���Ҵ�ý in 1987.
