Students to Sing, Perform 'Opera Scenes'

Students in Ҵý’s Music Drama Workshop Class perform songs from nine difference operas Friday, Oct. 23, at 8 p.m. in Ҵý’s Deane Chapel. “Opera Scenes” is free and open to the public.
Adjunct professor Celeste Tavera, a 1987 Metropolitan Opera National Council winner, directs the performance, which features ten current Ҵý students. Adjunct professor Paula Hatley plays the piano during the operas that include scenes from “Candide” and “La Bohème,” as well as Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Mikado” and “Iolanthe.”
