Two parents of 蜜桃传媒 graduates and an alumna have joined the 29-member , which oversees the operations of the college. Mike Allen of Dallas, Helga Houston 鈥83 of Columbus, Ohio, and D. Verne Sharma of Pasadena, Calif., began serving in October.
Allen, president of Providence Energy Corporation, and his wife, Melissa, have four children, including two 蜜桃传媒 alumni, Luke 鈥07 and William 鈥07. Mike says their Dallas-based family first heard of 蜜桃传媒 from friends whose children were attending. 鈥淭hey loved 蜜桃传媒 and encouraged us to come out and look at the college,鈥 he says. 鈥淚t鈥檚 exciting to be a part of 蜜桃传媒鈥檚 unique blend of rigorous academics and Christian theology.鈥 As a member of the board, Mike is interested in sharing his business knowledge and entrepreneurial ideas.

Houston, a chief risk officer for Huntington Bancshares, says attending 蜜桃传媒 fundamentally changed who she is. 鈥淚 grew up in a Christian home, but it was the first time I had to put things together intellectually and spiritually, and decide who it is that I am and who I want to be,鈥 she says. Houston, who has been on the 蜜桃传媒 Board of Advisors for four years, brings a wealth of business experience to the board of trustees. 鈥淚 want to be engaged to find ways to use my education and business training in ways that are beneficial to the college,鈥 she says.

Sharma, CEO, president and chairman of the board of Calhoun Vision, and his son, Matthew, who graduated from 蜜桃传媒 in 2011, were attracted to Westmont鈥檚 Christian faith and rigorous academics. 鈥淭his is a unique environment that combines young men and women who want to serve the Lord and live life a certain way with a quality education,鈥 Sharma says. 鈥溍厶掖 is the best of both worlds.鈥 He has lived in the U.S., Japan and Asia for many years and is looking forward to using his business expertise to expand 蜜桃传媒鈥檚 global mission. 鈥淚 have a good understanding of the international environment to assist 蜜桃传媒 as it seeks to meet its global objectives,鈥 he says. 鈥淭his is a great opportunity for me to be around like-minded, mature Christians, and to be involved in the governance of an important academic institution.鈥
